My favorite aunts!

Joshua was very excited today, because Aunt Shelley and Aunt Erin came to visit! He showed them what a big boy he is by sitting in his Bumbo chair, and then talking with his animal friends. The smiles came when Aunt Erin talked to Joshua--he thinks she is so funny :)

Aunt Shelley is finally back after 3 months in Guatemala. She had scheduled her departure back in September so she'd be able to meet Joshua before she left, but he decided to come a week late, so today was her first day meeting him! And try as I might, I could not get him to look at the camera with her!
Aunt Erin and Aunt Shelley decided to make a Joshua sandwich, which I thought was quite fitting, because I always say he is so cute that I could just eat him up!
We're really looking forward to Wednesday, because David will be off work through the weekend. We're going over to Bernie and Martha's for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (slumber party for Joshua!) to spend time with the Isgetts. Then my parents, grandmother, and brother are coming up to visit for a few days at our house. Lots of holiday time with family--hooray!

2 month appointment

I had my 2 month appointment last Thursday. The stats are in and I'm right in the middle of the pack!
Weight: 11lbs 6oz (50%)
Length: 22.5 inches (40%)
The doctor said everything looks great and I'm growing big and strong! I did NOT like my shots, though--they took me by surprise and I cried. I was okay by the time I got home, though, and I took a long nap to try and forget them. Here's me later with Freddie the Frog (Grandma got this for me), and as you can see, I'm much happier!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Last Tuesday night, Bernie, Martha, and David's little sister Erin came to visit since we wouldn't be spending Thanksgiving here. Joshua LOVES his Aunt Erin--he watched everything she did with such fascination! She got a big laugh at bathtime when Joshua peed on David as he was getting ready for the tub :) We had a beautiful sunrise on Thanksgiving down in Havelock! My parents live right on a creek off the Neuse River and most mornings have a pretty beginning like this.

We tried to get a bunch of pictures before all the family came over on Thanksgiving. As you can see, Joshua is still happy at this point...

And by now, he is fed up with picture taking! He loves his daddy, but he was done!

We stayed with my parents through Sunday afternoon. Grandma and Grandpa got lots of snuggle time. Joshua, did you have a good time?

Some of my favorite people

Joshua and some of his favorite people:

Grandma Uncle Keith

and Daddy, of course!

Special occasions

We went down to New Bern in mid-November for my Grandmother's 85th birthday celebration. Joshua is her first great-grandchild, and this was the first time she was able to see him in person. My mom, of course, couldn't wait to get her hands on her favorite little guy! After dinner, we went back to my aunt and uncle's house for cake. Joshua enjoyed sleeping on my Aunt Ann :)

We had Joshua's baby blessing yesterday, which was wonderful. My parents came up for the weekend, and a number of Isgetts were able to come as well--Bernie & Martha, Keith and his wife Angela and daughter Sydney, and Mike and his wife Lauren. Everyone came over for lunch afterwards, and everyone enjoyed time with Joshua! Here he is in his little white outfit with Daddy (David's grandma picked out his blessing suit):

Now we just can't wait until Wednesday afternoon, when we head down to Havelock for the Thanksgiving holiday! I don't know if Joshua is ready for all the hugs and kisses he'll be getting from my family! :)

Playtime!

Somebody's been doing lots of smiling and chattering...any guesses?
Just some pictures of Joshua when he's not eating or sleeping :) He's been enjoying more time propped up in the Boppy and he loves to pose in a freshly changed diaper. But he's really good at turning off the smile just as I run and get the camera. We still think he's cute, smile or no smile :)

He's loving his playmat and hitting the blue spinner:

David and I are loving all the interaction and seeing our little guy learn more and more about his new world!

Sorry for the delay!

Don't have time to write much, but I know it has been a while since I put up some new pictures...

Here's Joshua enjoying his animal play mat:

Lazy Saturday

Grandma Martha and Grandpa Bernie came over to visit and spend some time with Joshua today. David and I took the opportunity to go vote early and brought lunch back just in time to watch the Carolina football game. I'm writing this at half-time, and we're looking good so far--GO HEELS!

Here's little man with Grandma Martha: Here he is just a little bit earlier after eating his breakfast (he's going to grow up and be a tummy sleeper like his mommy)

My Aunt Sydney came for a visit on Thursday. I think it is safe to say that she loved getting some cuddle time with our little one!

Bathtime is getting a little more enjoyable every time. Daddy uses a washcloth to keep Joshua warm with water while Mommy uses another to get him clean. Look at that belly!

We love going on walks in the neighborhood when Daddy gets home in the evening from work. Joshua seems to really enjoy the motion and all the different things to listen to and look at. Here he is all bundled up and ready to go!

3 1/2 weeks old already--and it is hard to remember life before him or imagine life without him. We love our little guy so much!

Visitors and time with Mommy

David and I are surely a little biased, but we think this little guy is about as cute as they come:
Since Joshua is not quite 3 weeks old yet, he spends lots of time sleeping... Joshua loves to spend time cheek to cheek with Daddy, and loves giving Daddy kisses!
My mom and dad came up to visit on Sunday to get some snuggle time with Joshua. I think our little man has a new favorite napping place--Grandpa's lap! Grandpa loved holding Joshua, who spent part of the time alert and checking out his visitors, and the rest of the time knocked out in Grandpa's arms!
Daddy went back to work today, so it was just Mommy and Joshua. We had lots of snuggle time, and Mommy got some cute pictures post-diaper change.

Daddy's home with us this week!

Daddy's home this week with us--we love Daddy's job with CBH and are so grateful for paid paternity leave! This is a picture of Joshua after Mommy and Daddy gave him a bath: Joshua loves to spend time with Daddy--David's chest is apparently his favorite place to nap!
Mommy had to grab the camera to catch some funny faces Joshua was making this afternoon:

Mommy had her 2 week post-delivery check-up this afternoon--my incision site looks good and is healing up really well. Joshua fell asleep in his car seat on the way to the appointment and slept through the whole thing!

David's dad brought over an old family rocker-recliner for us to use in the living room and it has been wonderful! We've also had great friends from church bringing over dinner for us in the evenings--we almost have more food than we can possibly eat at this point! We feel so blessed for all the love and support that we have received from so many family members and friends...Joshua is one lucky and loved little guy :)

Grandma's gone

Well, it is Sunday afternoon and that means my mom is gone after being here for a week. We had such a great time together and I don't know what I would have done without her. Her companionship, advice, and conversation meant the world to me...I considered not letting my dad have her back! She'll be up again at the end of the month for a few days, so Joshua and I will be looking forward to that.

David's week of paternity leave begins tomorrow, so it will be the three of us together for the week. After that, it will just be the little man and mommy. We've been so fortunate to have so much support since we've come home--David's parents have provided a number of meals for us, and some families from our ward will be bringing meals this week. Our neighborhood has already volunteered to provide some dinners for next week, so we don't have to think about cooking much for the next couple of weeks, which is wonderful!

Joshua is just as adorable and loved as ever! Grandma loves when he wrinkles up his forehead when people are talking to him, the next few pictures show him cuddling with Grandma, and the last one had us all cracking up--when Joshua falls asleep, there is no waking him and his whole little body just goes limp. He is the light of our lives!
