What a fun Saturday!

We had a really great Saturday this past weekend. David's parents came over after Joshua's morning nap and we all went to Moe's for lunch. Here's Joshua with Grandma Martha:

Joshua loved playing with Grandpa Bernie's hair:

After Joshua got up from his afternoon nap, my best friend Erin from high school came over to visit (I know--2 friends named Erin...lots of funny stories from that!) Joshua was a little shy when she first arrived, but within 5 minutes, Joshua had found a new friend! He loved all her talking and funny faces:

And if anyone is curious why on earth my son is wearing an NC State shirt, my friend Erin went to State for undergrad and decided this would be an appropriate gift for Joshua. The fact that I actually put him in it for her shows how much I like her...Joshua is still a Tar Heel all the way!

Just fooling around

This is just a compilation of pictures I've taken over the last week.

All of the closest people to Joshua wear glasses (Mommy, Daddy, and all 4 grandparents), so of course he is fascinated by glasses. One day he wouldn't stop trying take my glasses off my face, so I decided we'd see how he looked in them!

The verdict: Pretty darn cute!

Joshua is always really happy and chatty when he knows it is time for his bath. These are a few pictures from the other night:

This one is my favorite! I have no idea what he thought was so shocking, but I love it!

So my mom bought some outfits for Joshua before he was even born, and didn't take into account what season it would be when he was in some of the sizes. Since it has been warm recently, I got out one of the summer outfits that turned out to be a little small. David and I thought he looked like a little Marine with his cute little arms and this "muscle shirt" and his "flat top" hair!

Plus, look at those chubby legs! Aggghhh--too cute!

This is Joshua in the whole outfit, which we had to promptly change so he could wear something that actually fit him better. But I still thought he was so cute in his little Hawaiian shirt :)

Fun times with the little man!

Coupons!

I had my store fliers and coupons out this morning, getting things ready for a shopping trip with Joshua between his two naps. Joshua was playing with his toys as I made my list...and when I looked up a minute later, he had rolled over to my pile of fliers and started a coupon party! He was crunching and sliding the papers with his hands and talking up a storm. Obviously he realizes the importance of a good deal :)

Easter weekend

Joshua, as evidenced below, is very excited that Grandma and Grandpa came up for the Easter weekend! He is quite the good little sitter, by the way. I think he is just so cute when he sits there and bangs his toys on the ground and chatters away :)

Joshua loves playing with Grandma's hair, and with the addition of two teeth, decided her chin would be a fun teething toy!

Grandpa took a nap on the couch and when Joshua woke up from his nap, he decided Grandpa should be awake too!

The Easter Bunny (aka Grandma) decided to bring Joshua a HUGE stuffed sea turtle. I'm not sure what the connection is between Easter and sea turtles, but Joshua didn't mind in the least...he loves his new friend, who we have dubbed Timmy the Turtle (to go along with Freddie the Frog and Sammy the Sea Horse). Joshua sits in front of Timmy and bends down to "kiss" him over and over...I think he is actually trying to lick the furry shell :)

After having a great weekend with my parents, we drove to Durham on Sunday afternoon to spend time with the Isgetts. The Easter Bunny (aka Grandma Martha) had more presents for him there: a stuffed monkey, a toy cell phone, a set of toy keys, and a toy with balls that go around and around inside. Lots of Joshua's aunts and uncles were there, and Joshua had a great time, especially with Aunt Shelley.

We love getting to spend time with our families!

Big smile

Can you believe that this little guy has 2 teeth coming through on the bottom? If I couldn't see them (and feel them, when he's gnawing on my fingers!), I wouldn't believe it. He hasn't been fussy or cranky, just doing a little more drooling and chewing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he stays this happy with all of his teething!

To help my mom make it to the weekend...

Just a video of Joshua on the move...

My mom and dad are coming up for the weekend, and my mom loves watching videos of Joshua to hold her over between visits. I like to imagine Joshua has been inspired by watching Carolina basketball and is already training to play someday...of course, that would require that he gets exactly 0% of his height genes from me!

By the way, how 'bout them Heels? 2009 National Champs--woo hoo! :)

Sleepy boy

All clean and dry (with a little spikey hair, thanks to Daddy)...

Getting some snuggles...

Happy and ready for bed!

My good little eater

Well, so far, this little guy likes his veggies! He's been enjoying rice cereal in the evenings for the past couple of months, and once we got the okay from his doctor at his 6 month appointment, we added baby food to the menu. We've been doing some rice cereal and baby food in the morning, more baby food at lunch time, and rice cereal and baby food in the evenings. Along with his milk, he's taking in tons of food!

So far we've tried (and liked):

Sweet Potatoes

Green Beans
(he likes to play with the spoon after I've finished feeding him)

and Carrots.

Soon we'll be trying green peas, squash, bananas, applesauce, peaches, and pears. Hopefully they'll go over as well as the others have so far. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he'll continue to like veggies and fruit this much as he gets older...I've already told David that he's got to be a good example for Joshua :)

6 months old!

Hey Joshua...guess what?
You're 6 months old today!
The doctor says you're growing great!
Weight: 16lbs 2oz (30%)
Length: 25.75in (30%)
Head Circum: 43.3cm (40%)

You're doing lots of push-ups and starting to leap frog...
even though you end up going backwards most of the time!
You tried sweet potatoes for the first time...and you loved them!
And you've got a tooth just coming through on the bottom...
no wonder you've been drooling so much :)

Daddy and I are so proud of you and what a wonderful little
boy you are.

And your little sleeper has it right...

Mommy loves you!
