Last day of PreK for the year!

Today was Joshua's last day of preK for the school year! His class had a pizza party and invited the parents--Joshua was SO excited for me to come. He kept asking about it all week and making sure that I was actually going to stay for the party, and not just drop him off and go home! It was fun to meet some of his classmates (I was sad because his best buddy was on vacation this week!) and their families. Joshua is the only one in his class who isn't moving up to kindergarten next year (because of his birthday--he doesn't turn 5 until October 1, which is well after the cutoff), so he'll be with an all new group of students next year. We've got the next month off for summer break (he's at a year-round school on track 4), and then back to school for my big boy!

It is so exciting to see how much he's grown in these last 2 months and all the areas in which he's shown real improvement. I love hearing him talk about fun things they did at school or something a classmate said. It is still a bit unreal that he has this section of his life that I'm not part of...part of growing up that Mommy needs to get used to! I am so incredibly grateful for this sweet, smart, funny, handsome, wonderful little boy that I get to call mine!

My Bonus Boy

I giggle every morning that Leah picks out a really girly/cutesy outfit to wear for the day. She is SUCH a tomboy and such a mess that by the end of the day, whatever she's wearing is covered in dirt, food, drink, and who knows what else! It's 9:00am and she's already got breakfast leftovers in her hair and is trying to pull out the hair clip that's keeping her hair out of her face. I jokingly call her my bonus boy ;)

She's a mess, but she sure is cute! :)

And in case you're thinking to yourself, "Hey, isn't that baby almost 6 months old? She looks like she's the size of a 3 month old," yes, she is, and yes, she does. But she's gaining and happy, so she's obviously just going to be my petite baby :)

Sprinklers and "Swimming"

After David mowed the grass during afternoon naps, he filled the tiny wading pool we have and set up the sprinkler so the kids could enjoy playing outside and not melt in the heat and humidity. So we got them all dressed in swimsuits and water shoes...and did they have fun! Just a few weekend pictures

We had a wonderful long weekend with family. Grandma Martha came on Friday to take the kids and me to lunch at Chick-Fil-A. Yummy food AND play time? Yes, please! She also brought some really cute new books for the kids, which are always a hit in this house full of readers! Just as we were getting home from lunch, my parents were getting to the house to spend the weekend with us, and my brother came up about an hour later. We had a great time laughing, playing outside, visiting the Farmer's Market and the park and going on neighborhood walks, watching movies, and eating yummy food. We loved getting to spend so much time outside with the gorgeous weather we had this weekend!
